6 Unique Processional Ideas

Today’s bride and groom want to make a statement with their wedding ceremony and creating a unique processional is the latest wedding trend. Here are some ideas to get you thinking.

Non-Traditional Music

If you don’t want to create too much fuss but want to add your own unique twist many brides are opting to walk down the aisle with a less traditional piece of music. You can add music with whimsy and humour, romance and elegance or even go retro from a 70s piece to something from the jazz era.

Dance Moves

Many couples are taking it one “step” further and choosing to dance their processional up and down the aisle at their wedding ceremony. From completely choreographed numbers including the entire wedding party, to charming waltzes between father and daughter you can take the idea and make it work for you. If you can’t dance, don’t worry! The more awkward the dance moves, the more fun you will end up having.

Add More People

The tradition of Dad being the only family member involved is changing and people are involving some of the most important people in their lives. Grandparents and even pets can step up to walk down the aisle and can provide a perfect way to showcase those who hold significance in your life.

Groom Walk

All eyes are always on the bride, but many couples are now opting to have the groom walk down the aisle prior to the bride. A fun and wonderful gesture is to have the groom escorting his parents down the aisle, or his future mother-in-law. Either way giving the groom his own walk down the aisle is a lovely idea.

Create a Theme

You can have a lot of fun with a theme whether it be subtle or obvious. You can do something fun like have a song such as”Come Fly with Me” by Sinatra and have the groomsmen wear pilot hats and bridesmaids wear either old school stewardess hats or scarves.

You can also use sports inspired tricks for the sports fanatics such as tossing a football down to the groom or dribbling basketballs. Another great idea is to have the Hollywood theme and have groomsmen wearing sunglasses and ear pieces much like security team escorting the bride down the aisle.

Use Props and Effects

Some couples are adding props from parasols to pets while others are using effects such as lighting or dry ice. By adding props or effects it is sure to be a wedding remembered.

You can always avoid the aisle altogether and enter from either side of the altar and join hands at the front of the church, it’s completely up to you. Whatever you decide we hope that you enjoy your beautiful day.
